Which File Format Do I Need?

Photos

  • .TIF files are high-resolution, flattened files for print applications. They are CMYK files and may also contain an alpha channel or clipping path.

  • .JPG (or .JPEG) files are lower-resolution, compressed files for web and on-screen applications. There are typically two sizes of .JPG files available: one is a very low-resolution image, which is usually suitable for use on the web or social media; the other is a medium- to high-resolution version, which is suitable for use in Microsoft Office and basic printing or full-screen uses.

Logos

  • .EPS files are camera-ready, CMYK, vector art files for use in print. Note that without the right software, you won't be able to open or preview these files.

  • .JPG (.JPEG) files are low- to medium-resolution rasterized files for use on the web, in Microsoft Office, and other applications where a vector file isn't necessary. These files typically have a white background, so if they are placed on top of another image or a non-white background, the logo will look like it's enclosed in a white box. If you are using the Kinetico logo on a background other that white, do not use this file.

  • .GIF and .PNG files are low- to medium-resolution rasterized files, like .JPG files, only with transparent backgrounds. These files should be used instead of a .JPG file when placed on a non-white background.
